Welcome to the Reception class page. The Reception Class Team is made up of:
In reception every child has the right to thrive by accessing a unique curriculum that has been designed by our Reception team. This is based on a good understanding of where children are and where they need to go in order to progress and achieve. In reception we focus on the three prime areas of development prior to moving on to the specific areas of learning and really value the importance of getting the prime areas of earning right. We see each child as unique and ensure that children’s interests are planned for and support their learning.
During the spring term we will be enhancing our curriculum with a pirate theme. Our book for the term is The Night Pirates and we will be using this to enhance areas of our provision. In Reception the children will be writing their own wanted posters. We will also be learning abut some real life pirates and having a go at writing some sentences about real life pirates. We are going to be having a go at designing your own pirate hats and designing their own pirate ship that is able to float and hold a small pirate. If you would like to find out more information about our Autumn, Spring and Summer planning then please have a look at our long-term curriculum plan.
Library books
Every Friday the children in Reception will get to visit our school library. Whilst they are there they will get to choose a book to take home and read with their grown up. The children are allowed to keep this book for one full week and should be returned to school the following Friday. Your child also has a reading record which tells you the name of the book and allows you to add any comments. If your child has not received a new book please speak to Miss Taylor.
PE
PE will take place every Monday afternoon. Children should come into school in their PE kit on Mondays.
