Year 6

Welcome to Year 6’s class page. The Year 6 Team is made up of:

  • Miss Vega Class Teacher, Phase Leader
  • Miss Parkes Teaching Assistant

During this year, we have many exciting experiences planned and our curriculum enables each individual child to grow in confidence, providing the skills and knowledge for them to achieve their full God-given potential. Here is our overview for the Spring Term:

This document will also give guidance on how to help your child at home. Do NOT use past SATs papers with them please, as we use these in school and your child will not get the right support if they’ve already seen the tests.

Key information:

  • PE days are Wednesday (Swimming) and Thursday
  • SATs will be Tuesday Week Beginning
  • Dol-y-Moch residential is Tuesday 21st – Friday 24th May 2024

Year 6 home/school partnership:

Home/school partnership is essential to a child’s success in Year 6, supporting them to achieve their best throughout the year, in their SATs in May and then be as well-prepared as possible for success in secondary school. We do this in Year 6 through:

  • Having the highest behaviour and attitude to learning expectations and communicating regularly with parents about how these are being met (or not) by their child.
  • Compulsory homework & spellings sent out every Friday due in/tested following Thursday.
  • Additional pre-school breakfast clubs and afterschool boosters for reading and maths. Your child will be invited to these if required.
  • Half-termly assessments in school with results sent home to support home learning.
  • Guidance on how to support your child at home given at parents’ & Curriculum evenings.

We are really looking forward to working with you and your child. We expect a lot from children in Year 6 because we know they can achieve their full, God-given potential if they set their minds to it. All Year 6 staff are fully committed to supporting them to achieve this. Thank you in advance for your support this year.
