Year 3

Welcome to Year 3’s class page. The Year 3 Team is made up of:

• Miss Penavega Teacher
• Miss Poole Teaching Assistant Apprentice

This year marks an exciting transition as the children move into Key Stage Two. They will take on new challenges, develop their independence, and build greater responsibility for their own learning. Our aim is to help every child grow in confidence and reach their full God-given potential.

It is also an exciting and special time in the children’s faith journey as we prepare together for the sacrament of First Holy Communion. Alongside this, we have lots to look forward to this year, including an inspiring trip to Cadbury World to support our reading of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and a visit to the National Stone Centre to explore and investigate rocks. These experiences will help bring our topics to life and give children memorable opportunities to connect their learning to the world around them.

Key Information

• First Reconciliation: Friday 13^th February 2026
• First Holy Communion: Saturday 13th June 2026
• PE Days: Monday and Thursday – children should wear their PE kit and trainers. Jewellery must be removed; where possible, please leave earrings at home.

 Home/School Partnership
Working together makes a big difference to your child’s success.

• Homework and spellings are set every Friday and due by Wednesday.
• Spelling tests take place each Thursday.
• Children should be reading at home as often as possible. Please record all reading in your child’s reading diary.
• Termly assessments will take place in school, with feedback shared at parents’ meetings.
• Additional guidance will be given at curriculum and parents’ evenings.

We are really looking forward to working with you and your child this year. It is a special time as we move up together into Year 3, and I am excited to share in your child’s learning journey, celebrating their progress and achievements along the way.
